What is Blades Creative?

Hi! I’m Gabrielle aka Gabby aka the lady in charge at Blades Creative.  I’m the owner, operator, and most importantly, artistic visionary and designer here at BC.  Blades Creative was born in 2015 out of my need to be challenged creatively and corporately, and we have been striving to stretch ourselves in those ways and more since then.  At this point in time, “we” includes myself and my right-hand-lady, Hannah. She handles most of our back-end project management and frees me up to do what I do best: designing awesome stuff for our clients from the initial sketch to the final drafts!  Wondering how I came up with the name for my company? Blades is actually my last name, which was going to be favorable for either a foray into the art world or selling knives door-to-door. Luckily I landed on the former, and it’s been working for me ever since.

Some things you may not know about me:

  1. I’m from Louisiana (moved here when I was 16), but my heart home is Chattanooga.

  2. I love cats. 

  3. I drink tea, not coffee (I love coffee but it makes me cray cray)

  4. I go through phases of being really into yoga, really into ballet, or really into road cycling. Sometimes I’m really into doing all of them, but not at once, ha.

  5. I grew up as the glorified “art kid.” Are you surprised?

  6. I owned my first design “business” before I was a teen.

  7. My design work ALMOST always starts with a sketch - helloooo pen and paper. 

  8. I could eat nachos every day. Especially from Mojo Burrito. 

  9. My sister is my best friend (v. lucky).

  10.  Branding is my specialty, but guess what? It’s still really hard. That’s why I love it!

What we do:

  • Design brand or marketing/event collateral

  • Work long-term or by the project 

  • Offer pricing fair for you and for me (to the best of our ability) 

  • Build meaningful relationships with our clients

  • Respect your expertise in your field and explain the design process in a way that makes sense to you

What we don’t do:

  • Code Websites 

  • Charge by the hour

  • Speed through the process

  • Skip paperwork

  • Leave you hanging 

Basically, we make you look good with meaningful design, and we really love our clients :)

A few changes we’ve made in the past year or two:

  • We use HoneyBook to manage all of our new inquiries, projects, paperwork, packages, etc, so if you want to work with us, you’re getting put in the system - it’s very pretty, but don’t try to pay us through it. That’s what Quickbooks is for :)

  • Blades Creative now works on the move. We don’t have our space at the Incubator anymore, so we work remotely. Have a place you can share with us in the Southeast and beyond? We’d love to visit!
