Our Vision for 2020

At the start of the new year, the Blades Creative team sat down for an entire day of planning. This is the first time we’ve ever done anything this extensive in order to plan for the year.  We have typically been a go-with-the-flow kind of business and although it’s always worked for us, we felt like this was the year we buckled down on the forecasting front. Even with joint short attention spans and our ability to go down rabbit holes (*cough cough Vanderpump Rules and heated discussions about what we were ordering for lunch*), our 2020 CEO Day was a big success and a very affirming way to start the new year.

2019: What Worked & What Didn’t

In order to best prepare for our future, we needed to dig deep into 2019. Thanks to the Being Boss Book, we worked through an activity called “What’s Working, What’s Kind of Working, and What’s Not Working” to jump start this process. Worksheet can be found here.  I am a major advocate for working smarter not harder and this worksheet was a game changer for anyone who is interested in investigating the processes that are helping and/or hurting their business.

After a 15 minute brainstorm session, we determined the following:

What’s Worked Well

  • Internal Workflow

  • Brand Packages

What’s Kind of Worked

  • Blades Creative Branding

  • Work/Life Balance

Growth Areas

  • Financial Planning

  • Setting aside time for in-house content (Look at me now! Let’s see if I can keep it up.)

Goals

Because we’re both big dreamers, asserting measurable goals can be a (very time-consuming) challenge.  Our 2020 goals are big, but we hope that with increased awareness we will surpass the expectations we’ve set for ourselves. An overview of our 2020 goals:

  1. Better grasp on all metrics.

  2. Doing more to connect with business owners and industries with whom we want to work.

  3. Consistent conversations about action steps that are being taken to meet our goals.

We got this, right? When we sat down to create these goals we wanted them to be realistic but also hoped to set the bar high, and of course these three items are in addition to our everyday tasks like designing, communicating with clients, and creating in-house content among others.  We’ll be honest - it’s already been tough! But we know that once we put it out into the universe, that’s what makes it real. So here we are 2020! We’re bringing the awareness and, as always, positivity and excitement for what’s in store
