How The Perfect Logo Design is Created

We may think the answer is simple, but it is actually much more than a combination of your business’ name and colors. Let me share what I told my friend with you.

A Tiny but Mighty Piece to the Branding Puzzle

I know the power that a logo can carry. Sure, someone can look at a logo and think it's just some imagery, but it's so much more than that! Logos have the ability to inspire trust, brand recognition, and brand loyalty.

Remember, logos don’t necessarily sell. Instead logos are created to symbolize the beliefs and values behind the business. It should be simple, shearable, and meaningful ensuring that your logo communicates the intended message.

A good logo all boils down to its conception and connection. Businesses should feel a deep connection to the logo because it will make an impression with every presentation, product package, social post… you get it, right? Your logo is not just a representation of your business's story, but it’s something that holds sentiment for you and is memorable for your customers.

The Magic of a Blades Creative Logo Design

I LOVE sharing the behind-the-scenes when designing a logo—getting to relive the journey from our first conversation to the drafts and then, ultimately, the final product? Magical.

When creating a logo, it's perfectly normal to have drafts and different iterations of designs until you find the one that evokes emotion and brings us back to a business's mission and belief. Developing a logo isn’t always easy and rejection is an important part of the process. Remember, there are no bad ideas when finding a design that truly represents your business!

From the outside, it feels so simple and effortless, but when you peel back the layers, you can see the creativity behind the Blades Creative process and the impact that a thoughtfully designed logo can carry.

Peeling Back the Layers to the Perfect Logo Design

The perfect logo takes patience and creativity.

Creating a logo requires conversations and research, sketching and conceptualizing, and making revisions until you create something that resonates.

Let's talk about a logo that we know very well - The Apple logo. It's memorable, relates to the business, is unique, and versatile. It can be shrunk or enlarged to fit any marketing material or products that Apple creates from phones to desktop computers. The Apple logo is a part of every single product or event Apple makes.

Don’t you have some feels when your new iPhone or MacBook arrives in the mail? Seeing the shiny apple emblem MIGHT just make your heart palpitates a little. Maybe that’s just me! Ha!

I’m not saying we can create something as legendary as the Apple logo, but there is a science behind the Blades Creative process to attempt evoking that feeling in our client’s and customers. Before we can start the design- we need to peel back the layers of your business.

So first we need to:

  1. Have an understanding of your buyers and competitors

  2. Understand the products and services provided

  3. Understand the businesses values and goals

It all Starts with Your Why

The core of every perfect logo is the relation that the logo has with the business's story and its "why?."

Of course, businesses are meant to be profitable, but that's not everything. When we start a business, it's our baby! It’s not about what we are doing but why we are doing it.

Our audience connects a lot of the story and the "why" behind a business, not just the product, so tap into those memories. What inspired you to create this product or offer this service??

When we start creating a logo for a business at Blades Creative Design Studio ,I encourage the client to step outside of what their company does and think about what gets them out of bed in the morning, how doing the work makes them feel, and how they want the product or service they offer makes others feel.

The Blades Way

Because logos act as one of the first touchpoints to the rest of a business's brand, I like to take a more holistic approach to the design process.

However, the first step is always, ALWAYS defining the brand story. I want to feel your passion and excitement when it comes to your brand and product!

While putting together your brand story, I'll ask questions like:

  1. Who do you want to serve?

  2. What was the original spark of the business?

  3. What do you want customers to say about you?

Next, we'll put together a list of words that describe your business, not just what you do but the essence of it! I'll ask questions like, "If someone took a bite out of your business, what would it taste like?" It always takes my clients by surprise, but you get really fun answers like "crisp, like an apple" or "warm like a freshly baked brownie."

We also look at words that clients frequently use when describing their business - some examples of this could be "community," "empowering," or "energetic."

Step by step, these descriptors slowly become imagery, and when paired with typography, and a color pallette everything will start to fit together like a puzzle creating the perfect logo design for our client - one that's memorable, unique, and versatile, YAY!

Put Together the Perfect Logo with the Help of an Expert

Designing the perfect logo can be challenging, especially if you're doing it on your own! And it's only the first step in creating a brand that truly represents your business and its story.

Logos are meant to be beautiful, timeless, and memorable. While there are places where you can create logos yourself, there are drawbacks. When using a design platform or template, you risk losing the individuality and authenticity you can get when working with a designer. Maybe, I’m a bit biased, there’s nothing more meaningful than having a logo design that feels 100% you!

Your audience is looking to connect with what you put out into the world, and one way to connect with your audience is through your branding, which all starts with creating the perfect logo.

If you're ready to create the perfect logo, get in touch! Working with Blades Creative Design Studio is a partnership. We'll take your love, passion, and drive for your business and design a logo that reflects all of that and more!
